Lincoln Underground Collective presents
Monopoly On Violence
The State’s Use of Force & the Anarchist Response
The state is more violent than any individual can ever be; anarchists believe that while the state exists, humanity is not free. We must be subject to the established system, & deviate from the law at our peril. In recent months the law has criminalised people injured by the police, lied to protesters & remains unaccountable for physical attacks on defenceless people. In the wider world, imperialism & militarism have never ceased; global capitalism has enabled apocalyptic weaponry to protect what it calls our “freedom.”
Violence includes the use of weapons to fight and defeat resistance at all levels. Intimidation, surveillance, assault & execution are among the ways in which authorities sustain themselves; for all their talk of liberty & security they never ask permission to break our bodies & collective will.
Join us for a frank discussion of the many facets of violent repression & resistance throughout modern history, with particular focus on the struggle of the working class to overcome state abuse and the struggle of authorities to contain them.
